Hugh Andrews Norris, Sr. was born in Canton, Mississippi on October 12, 1896. He moved to the Canal Zone about 1919, and returned to Mississippi to marry Nye Wilson Crook on November 12, 1921. He and Nye moved to Ancon, Canal Zone and had three children, Hugh Andrews, Jr. Charles Nye and Lillian. He was employed as a customs inspector for the Panama Canal Company. He died on August 12, 1943 and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
