Airman First Class O'Malley was a veteran of World War II, serving with an engineer combat battalion, in the Philippines. During the Korean War, he was a member of the U.S. Air Force, assigned to the Cheyenne Air Force Base, Wyoming. He was killed in an automobile accident near Laramie, Wyoming on June 5, 1953.
