Captain Orr was a member of Detachment A-105, 5th Special Forces Group. On May 12, 1968, he was a passenger in a Lockheed Hercules Transport Aircraft (C-130B) departing Kham Duc Special Forces Camp, Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam. As the aircraft took off it received ground fire and exploded mid-air. His remains were recovered on June 9, 1993 and identified on May 14, 2007. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
