Airman First Class Overton was the tail gunner of a B-26C Invader bomber with the 730th Bomber Squadron, 452nd Bomber Wing. On December 2, 1950, while on an attack mission, the aircraft was flying at a low level at Pakchon, North Korea when it struck a power line and crashed. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
