Sergeant First Class Parks was a member of Headquarters, Military Assistance Command, Vietnam. On December 22, 1964, he was an advisor to a South Vietnamese unit operating about 20 miles north of Khanh Hung, Vinh Binh Province, South Vietnam. His unit was ambushed and he was taken prisoner. He died in captivity. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
