Chief Warrant Officer, Second Class Perry was a member of the Quartermaster School, Training Advance Detachment, Training Directorate, Military Assistance Command, Vietnam. On December 14, 1971, he was the pilot of a Beech Ute Utility Aircraft (U-21A) on an administrative flight from Phu Bai to Danang, South Vietnam. About 15 miles from Danang the aircraft experienced an inflight emergency and contact was lost. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
