Lieutenant Junior Grade Podorson was a pilot of a F4U-4 Corsair fighter with Fighter Squadron 114 (884) aboard the aircraft carrier USS BOXER (CV-21). On September 18, 1951, as he was striking a bridge at Ambyon, a few miles south of Wonsan, North Korea, his aircraft was shot down by anti-aircraft fire. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on May 19, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
