Colonel Polifka was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Notes
Colonel Polifka was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, commanded the 67th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing. On July 1, 1951, he was the pilot of a F-51D Mustang fighter from the 45th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, 67th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing. While on a combat mission, his aircraft received a direct hit by anti-aircraft fire.
