Corporal Portalatin was a Light Weapons Infantry Squad Leader with the 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in North Korea on October 24, 1952 and returned to duty on November 14, 1952. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on April 17, 1953.
