For his leadership and valor, First Lieutenant Prunier was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

First Lieutenant Prunier was a member of the 311th Fighter-Bomber Squadron, 58th Fighter-Bomber Group. On November 15, 1952, he was a passenger on a C-46D Commando transport from the 34th Troop Carrier Squadron, 315th Troop Carrier Wing. The aircraft was transporting personnel from Kangnung Airfield (K-18) to Pohang Airfield (K-3) in South Korea. It crashed into the Sea of Japan shortly after takeoff killing ten on board. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
