USNA Class of 1943, Lieutenant Commander Pugh was the pilot of an AD-4 Skyraider dive bomber with Fighter Squadron 194 aboard carrier USS VALLEY FORGE (CV-45). December 18, 1951, after receiving damage from his own bomb blast, he successfully ditched his aircraft off Wonsan Bay. When recovered by a rescue craft, he was found dead.
