For his leadership and valor, Lieutenant Pulliam was awarded the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, the Naval Commendation Ribbon, the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Lieutenant Pulliam was the pilot of a F4U-4 Corsair fighter with Fighter Squadron 193 aboard the carrier USS PRINCETON (CV-37). On August 3, 1952, while on a combat mission of striking a bridge near Tanchon, Korea, his aircraft received a direct hit by anti-aircraft fire, crashed and burst into flames. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
