Master Sergeant Reno was a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 5th Special Forces Group. On July 3, 1966, he was a passenger in a Sikorsky Choctaw Cargo Helicopter (CH34) which crashed and burned the northwest Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam. His remains were recovered on April 13, 2010 and identified on October 1, 2010. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
