Corporal Rivera-Carrillo was a Light Weapons Infantryman in Company F, 2nd Battalion, 65th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in North Korea on September 21, 1952 and returned to duty on October 6, 1952. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy at "Jackson Heights" in the Chorwon Valley, North Korea on October 28, 1952. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
