Staff Sergeant Roberts was a rifleman with Company B, 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division. On March 25, 1969, he was on a road interdiction mission southwest of Kontum, South Vietnam when he came in contact with the enemy. He became separated from his unit and was listed as missing. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
