A 28 year old American man from Illinois serving as a Chief Machinist's Mate aboard the submarine "USS Bass" (SS-164) during World War II. On August 17, 1942 while submerged, a fire started in the after battery room and spread to the torpedo room killing 25 crew members from asphyxiation from poisonous gas. He was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
