Senior Master Sergeant Romero was a member of the 21st Tactical Air Support Squadron. On March 19, 1968, he was a passenger in a Cessna Bird Dog Observation Aircraft (O-1G) over Thua Thien Province, South Vietnam when it crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
