Private Rooks was a member of Company F, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy near Yougbyon, north of Pyongyang, North Korea on November 30, 1950 and died later that day. His remains were not recovered.
