Boatswain's Mate Third Class Rotella was a member of the crew of the carrier USS PRINCETON (CV-37). On June 6, 1951, he was on the carrier's flight deck when a F9F-3 Panther Jet fighter crashed into the after end of the deck, killing the pilot and two crew members.
