Lieutenant Colonel Schott was a member of Advisory Team 70, Military Assistance Command, Vietnam. On April 7, 1972, he was an advisor at Loc Ninh, South Vietnam when the city was overrun by the 5th North Vietnamese Division. His remains were recovered on July 10, 2001 and identified on February 6, 2004. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
