Specialist, Fourth Class Schworer was a member of Company C, 4th Battalion, 47th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division. On April 9, 1967, he was on a search and destroy mission in Kien Phong Province, South Vietnam. As his unit was crossing a river, friendly helicopters accidentally fired on their position causing him to fall into the river and drown. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
