Colonel Singer was a member of the 354th Tactical Fighter Squadron. On August 17, 1966, he was the pilot of a Thunderchief Fighter (F-105F) on a mission over North Vietnam when his aircraft crashed. His remains were recovered on September 30, 1977 and identified on October 25, 1977. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
