Private Skees was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Private Skees was a member of the 187th Airborne Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on September 30, 1950 and returned to duty on October 17, 1950. He was seriously wounded again in North Korea on December 4, 1950 and died of those wounds on December 6, 1950.
