Specialist, Fourth Class Snider was a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 77th Armored Battalion, 5th Infantry Division. On April 28, 1970, he was swimming in the ocean at Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam and was caught in the undertow and drowned. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
