Major Sprague was a member of the 14th Air Commando Squadron. On September 12, 1966, he was the pilot of a Douglas Skyraider Attack Aircraft (A1-E) on a mission over Sam Neua, Sam Neua Province, Laos. His remains were recovered on September 13, 1990 and identified on January 11, 1991. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
