Specialist, Fourth Class Staton was a member of 173rd Engineer Airborne Company, 173rd Airborne Brigade. On November 11, 1967, he was a member of a search and destroy mission in Kontum Province, South Vietnam. When his unit engaged the enemy he was killed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
