Notes
Master Sergeant Stempkowski was a veteran of World War II, serving at Pearl Harbor and in Europe. In Korea, he was a member of Company K, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was seriously wounded while fighting the enemy at the "Bowling Alley" near Taegu, South Korea on September 5, 1950 and died of those wounds later that day.
