Private First Class Sullivan was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while defending his position at "Pork Chop Hill", North Korea on July 4, 1953. He was presumed dead on July 5, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
