For his leadership and valor, Lieutenant Tiffany was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Gold Star, the Air Medal with 2 Gold Stars, the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Lieutenant Tiffany was the pilot of a F4U-5N Corsair night fighter with Composite Squadron 3 aboard the carrier USS PRINCETON (CV-37). On April 22, 1951, while on a combat mission 17 miles south of Wonsan, North Korea, his aircraft received a direct hit by anti-aircraft fire, crashed and burst into flames. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on April 20, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
