Captain Trimble was a member of the 421st Tactical Fighter Squadron. On April 15, 1972, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4E) on a mission 20 miles northeast of Vinh Binh, North Vietnam, when his aircraft went down. He ejected but contact with him was lost. His remains were recovered on June 21, 1989 and identified on October 3, 1989. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
