Notes
In October 2015, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency exhumed the remains of an Unknown Soldier buried in Plot H Row 11 Grave 14 at Normandy American Cemetery with the belief that an identification could be made. DNA analysis and historical evidence were used to positively identify the remains as belonging to Motor Machinist Mate 1st Class John E. Anderson, who served with the U.S. Navy, and lost his life on June 6, 1944. His name is permanently inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at Normandy American Cemetery.
