Disinterred Unknown

In July 2010, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency exhumed the remains of an Unknown Soldier buried in Plot C Row 12 Grave 5 at Rhone American Cemetery with the belief that an identification could be made. DNA analysis and historical evidence were used to positively identify the remains as belonging to Pfc. Robert B. Bayne, who served with the 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division, and lost his life on March 28, 1945. His name is permanently inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at Lorraine American Cemetery.
