Notes
Captain Van Voorhis was a member of the 581st Air Re-Supply Squadron, U.S. Air Force. On January 13, 1953, he was a crew member of a RB-29A Superfortress reconnaissance bomber from the 91st Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron. While on a mission of dropping leaflets over enemy territory, his aircraft was attacked by 12 MiGs. Three crew members were killed and eleven were taken prisoner. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on August 14, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
