Captain Walsh was a veteran of World War II. During the Korean War, he was a the first pilot of a Stratofreighter aircraft with the Military Air Transport Service. On October 15, 1951, his aircraft was declared missing, when it was enroute from the Azores to Westover Air Force Base, Massachusetts.
