Private First Class Watkins was a member of the 2nd Reconnaissance Company, 2nd Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in South Korea on February 14, 1951. He was presumed dead on March 3, 1954. His remains were recovered on December 1, 1993 and identified on April 13, 2011. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
