George Henry Watts was born in Liverpool, England on May 16, 1872. He worked for the London & North Western Railroad for nine years. In October 1892 he immigrated to the United States and worked for the Union Iron Works in San Francisco, California. He was naturalized on October 28, 1904. He moved to Panama and on May 23, 1905 he worked for the Isthmus Canal Commission as an steam engineer. He married Elizabeth Kennedy Watts on January 16, 1911 at Cristobal, Canal Zone and they lived in Balboa, Canal Zone. On August 11, 1913, he received the Roosevelt Medal for his work as a steam engineer for the Panama Canal Company. He died on January 9, 1946 from a coronary occlusion and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery near his wife, Elizabeth Kennedy Watts.
