Sergeant Wellbrock was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Sergeant Wellbrock was a member of Company M, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in North Korea on December 12, 1950 and died of those wounds on December 31, 1950. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. SGT Wellbrock's remains have been recovered and identified.
