Nat Isiah Wertz was born in Omaha, Nebraska on May 26, 1891. He moved to the isthmus of Panama in late 1905 worked as a Fireman for the Panama Railroad. In February, 1908 he was promoted to Locomotive Engineer. He died on April 2, 1939, was buried at the Mt. Hope Cemetery then reinterred at the Corozal American Cemetery in 1979.
