Notes
Lieutenant Colonel Wheeler was a member of the Marine Observation Squadron 2, Marine Air Group 11, 1st Marine Air Wing. On April 21, 1970, he was the pilot of a North American Rockwell Bronco (OV10-A) over Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam near the border with Laos, when his aircraft was shot down. He survived the crash but was declared missing. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
