Private First Class White was a member of the 3rd Platoon, Company I, 3rd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. During the defense of Seoul, on the night of July 4, 1953, he was on a patrol north of Outpost Dagmar (Hill 355) in North Korea when he was killed by enemy small arms fire.
