Aviation Machinist's Mate First Class White was a veteran of World War II. During the Korean War he was assigned to the U.S. Coast Guard Station, Salem, Massachusetts. On November 13, 1952, he was the crewman of a Coast Guard HTL-1 helicopter on a routine training flight, which crashed in the Beverly, Massachusetts area killing him and the pilot.
