Specialist, Fourth Class Whittle was a member of the 630th Ordnance Company. On September 24, 1966, he went swimming in an area off Tuy Hoa, South Vietnam and drowned. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
