Seaman Apprentice Winkler was a crew member of the Aircraft Carrier USS BON HOMME RICHARD (CVA-31). On November 22, 1965, he fell overboard the USS BON HOMME RICHARD and drowned. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
