Corporal Witt was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes

Corporal Witt was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in North Korea on December 2, 1950 and died while a prisoner on January 31, 1951. His remains were not recovered at the time. Through the work of the Defense Department of Defense, the remains of Cpl. Witt were accounted for in 2015. His name is permanently inscribed in the “Courts of the Missing” at the Honolulu Memorial.
