Corporal Young was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He was seriously wounded by the enemy near Masogu-ri, South Korea on May 17, 1951 and returned to duty on May 28, 1951. He died of other causes near San-Yang-ni, Korea on July 31, 1951.
