Private First Class Young was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 61st Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division. On April 4, 1970, he was killed while attacking a hill in Quang Tri Province. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
