Lieutenant Colonel Young was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Headquarters Company, 223rd Infantry Regiment, 40th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in the "Punchbowl" area of North Korea on December 4, 1952.
