First Lieutenant Zielinsky was a veteran of World War II. During the Korean War he was the navigator of a B-29 Superfortress bomber with the U.S. Air Force. On March 9, 1951, he was on a training mission flying out of Lakenheath Air Base, England when contact with the aircraft was lost. It apparently crashed in the Mediterranean Sea southeast of Spain. All 12 crew members died.
