In World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, millions of Americans served far from home. In the various conflicts, service members fought in the waters of the Atlantic and Pacific. They traversed mountains in Italy, France, Korea and Vietnam.
The NAI announced that ABMC’s Chateau-Thierry American Monument Visitor Center received second place in the interior exhibit category as part of NAI’s annual professional awards.
The Pointe du Hoc Visitor Center will close early on Saturday, December 1, 2018 due to Wreaths Across America being held at Normandy American Cemetery. The operating hours for the outside portion of Pointe du Hoc will remain the same.
The Pointe du Hoc Visitor Center will be closed on December 5, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The visitor center will open to the public at 1:30 p.m. that day. The outside portion of Pointe du Hoc will not be affected.

November 20, 2018 marks the 75th anniversary of the American assault on Tarawa Atoll during World War II. Over several days of intense fighting, approximately 1,000 Marines were killed and more than 2,000 were wounded. One of these Marines was 1st Lt.
