Private First Class Ancel was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Private First Class Ancel was a member of Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. He was seriously Wounded in Action by the enemy in North Korea on September 15, 1952 and returned to duty on October 16, 1952. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on February 8, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
